Recipe: Marinade for Korean Short Ribs

After reading many different recipes for the marinade and buying the bottles of marinade in the store I have developed this recipe that closely resembles the bottled stuff.

1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup mirin or (or cooking wine)
1/2 cup minced sweet onion (I always use sweet onions...you could use any)
1/4 cup minced fresh garlic
1/4 cup sesame oil
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp sesame seeds ground with mortar & pestal

Mix this all together and store in fridge in a sealed glass container, otherwise your fridge will smell like marinade.

I use this to marinade Korean Beef Short Ribs, which I will make soon.
